New directions for alumni communications
A message from Mark Bernardi, Chair, GTA Alumni Committee

I'm excited to tell you that we're setting out in a new direction, including an overall redesign, for Local Link — one that aligns us with similar Deloitte publications elsewhere in Canada. As part of this new direction, and in response to your requests to hear more about the Deloitte family, we plan to feature more alumni profiles in upcoming issues. Please get in touch if you are an alumnus, or know of an alumnus, who'd like to be featured on these pages.

At the same time, we continue to learn more about what you want from the Deloitte alumni committee. At our recent alumni networking event earlier this year, we conducted a brief survey to get your thoughts on our activities. Your feedback provided us with valuable input that we'll be implementing during the year to come. I was gratified to learn from your positive comments that many of you are delighted with our efforts so far. We've also included a few pictures from the event in this newsletter.

In our third issue of the year, we bring you up to date on the firm's activities, clients and people in the GTA. In his message to alumni, Chief Executive Alan MacGibbon identifies the many contributions that Deloitte makes to the community throughout the year and how these are informed by our vision. GTA Group Managing Partner Yezdi Pavri discusses one of these community contributions — Impact Day — and how the GTA practice recently volunteered. This is a single day when all of the people of Deloitte are encouraged to spend time away from the office to volunteer for locally sponsored and organized community improvement projects. Plus, we offer a wealth of information, including:

• A selection of national news and events
• An update on some of the recent comprehensive solutions we offer our clients
• How we are sharing our expertise with the accounting and business community
• An outline of recent business trends and issues of interest to GTA alumni
• A sampling of new GTA partner, firm director and leadership appointments
• Recent recognitions and distinctions that Deloitte has received, and
• "Life at Deloitte" and alumni "Missing in action"
