Passing the torch after a decade of alumni communications
A message from Paul Gibbons, Chair, GTA Alumni Committee
As Chair of Deloitte's GTA Alumni Committee since 1995, I've had the privilege of staying in touch with hundreds of GTA alumni over the years. I've enjoyed being able to reach out to you in this publication through frequent telephone calls and emails, and at our annual GTA Alumni Networking Reception. I am fortunate to call many of you friends, and all of you valued business colleagues.
Now it is time for me to pass the torch. Mark Bernardi will be the next Chair of the GTA Alumni Committee, effective June 1, 2006. A senior manager in Audit and Accounting who has been with Deloitte since 1997, Mark has already started bringing good people together — he was actively involved in recruiting new talent for Deloitte at the University of Toronto for several years. I am confident that he will be an able and hard-working Chair of the GTA Alumni Committee, and that you will enjoy getting to know him.
In our second issue of the year, we bring you up to date on the firm's activities, clients and people in the GTA. We hear from incoming chair Mark Bernardi on his new role as Chair of the GTA Alumni Committee. Chief Executive Alan MacGibbon discusses how Deloitte recently made the Great Place to Work Institute's list of Canada's 30 Best Workplaces. GTA Group Managing Partner Yezdi Pavri describes the establishment of the Gender Leadership team and its many initiatives including the YWCA Women of Distinction Gala and the popular annual Women's Spring Breakfast event.
Plus, this issue offers a wealth of information, including:
- A selection of national news and events
- An update on some of the recent comprehensive solutions we offer our clients
- An outline of Deloitte's new service line to support private company services
- A sampling of new GTA partner and firm director appointments
- Recent recognitions that Deloitte has received
- Highlights of business trends and issues of interest to GTA alumni, and
