Our firm announced the sponsorship of Kyriacos Ioannou during a press conference, held on 4 March at the Olympic Tower in Nicosia with a big success

Our firm announced recently during a joint press conference with the Cyprus Amateur Athletic Association (“ΚΟΕΑΣ”) the exclusive sponsorship of the Cyprus Champion and third place World Champion high jumper Kyriacos Ioannou.

Our CEO Christis Christoforou announcing the sponsorship in front of a big number of sports and finance journalists, during the press conference held at the Olympic Tower, highlighted that our firm’s decision to sponsor Kyriacos Ioannou as well as a number of athletic developing programs undertaken by KOEAS is a reflection of our firm’s philosophy to reward the excellence matching Deloitte’s vision to become the Standard of Excellence.

“We will provide any possible support and help to Kyriacos during this year and the years to follow, especially during his preparations time for this summer’s Olympic games in Beijing”, he said.  “I take this opportunity to thank both KOEAS and the athlete himself for giving us the opportunity to proceed with this well deserved for the athlete sponsorship because we really believe in Kyriacos’ abilities and exceptional potential” he added.

Kyriacos Ioannou from his side after thanking Deloitte for its decision to sponsor him, added: “It is a great honour for me to be sponsored by a large organisation such as Deloitte and the least thing that I can promise to its people and all Cypriots who believe in me is that I will give my best myself in both the upcoming World Championships in Athletics to be held in Valencia, Spain and the summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China”. 

George Savvides, Vice President of KOEAS, also thanked Deloitte for this initiative emphasising at the same time the enormous importance of the sponsorship for both the athlete and the classic athleticism in Cyprus.  “I hope that also other private companies will follow Deloitte’s example and contribute in their way for the further improvement of our athletes and the athleticism in Cyprus in general.
