 Chris Gentle is the Director of Deloitte Research Europe. Based in London, he is responsible for research operations across the European marketplace and has global responsibility for financial services industry research. His recent work has focused on M&A, cost optimization, offshoring/outsourcing, and business models for investment banks. Dr. Gentle recently led a major project on pension and investment trends in Europe in a joint venture with Goldman Sachs.
Prior to joining Deloitte Research, Dr. Gentle held the position of Director of Research and Strategy at KPMG. He has consulted for many large corporations. He also has been non-executive board director at IFA Promotion, Director of Financial Services at The Henley Centre, and a consultant to the European Commission.
The author of two books – The Financial Services Industry and After Liberalisation – and more than 350 articles, Dr. Gentle is a frequent commentator contributing to CNN, BBC, the Financial Times, The Economist and The Wall Street Journal. He holds a BSc (Hons) from Manchester Polytechnic, a doctorate from University of Newcastle, and was a visiting fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford.
