Austin is a consultant in the Sports Business Group, whose responsibilities also include developing and managing the Group’s Sports Business Information System.
He works on a range of consulting, due diligence and economic studies across several sports, with recent assignments including: A review of the finances, distribution systems, competitive balance and competition structures within global rugby union; commercial due diligence on the sports broadcasting and rights market; a review of the financial impact of proposed changes to the structure of men’s tennis.
His clients include the International Rugby Board, the ATP, British Horseracing Authority, Sportfive, and Octagon.
Austin’s recent advisory work includes due diligence assignments for several potential investors in leading Premier League football clubs, and advising on the successful acquisition of the company operating MotoGP.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Austin worked for 3 years with a leading sports marketing company and has a strong market research background having managed projects for leading sports rights agencies, broadcasters and sponsors.
He is a co-author of the Deloitte Annual Review of Football Finance and Deloitte Football Money League.
Austin enjoys playing rugby union and football, and is anticipating a upturn in Welsh rugby fortunes.
