Alex is a senior consultant and has worked for Deloitte, in Manchester and Melbourne, since 1997. He has undertaken various assignments working with governing bodies, clubs, Councils and other sports business organisations in the UK and around Europe.
Recent advisory work includes due diligence examinations of several Premier League clubs on behalf of potential investors.
Recent consulting work includes the creation of a Performance Related Pay framework for a Champions League football club, benchmarking reviews for Premier Leage football clubs, a financial review of ATP Tennis Tournaments and an economic impact study in respect of the Volvo (Round the World) Ocean Race.
Alex worked on a year-long project with UEFA helping develop the revised financial criteria for their club licensing system, which impacts on around 700 clubs in UEFA's 53 member territories. Alex's work involved technical advice (with particular emphasis on international financial reporting and auditing standards), issue resolution, drafting regulations and providing football business expertise.
He worked on secondment at London 2012 in summer 2005 assisting with financial reporting and analysis.
Alex is an author of the Deloitte Annual Review of Football Finance, particularly focusing on football club profitability and the use of Performance Related Pay to control wages. He regularly performs analysis of domestic and international player transfers and is a media spokesperson for the Sports Business Group.
Alex is a keen sportsman and enjoys triathlons, football, tennis, skiing and trekking.
