Jake is a senior consultant in the Sports Business Group, with expertise in strategy work for International and National Governing Bodies of sport (IGBs / NGBs) and re-structuring work for professional sports leagues. He also leads assignments on the economic impact assessment of major sporting events, as well as stadium feasibility studies, and ticketing strategy. His work for IGBs includes several major strategic, financial and economic projects for the International Rugby Board, and the ATP Tour in tennis. His NGB work includes projects for UK Sport (developing the ‘Investing in Change’ competency framework for modernising NGBs), along with structure and governance projects for the British Equestrian Federation, Lawn Tennis Association and other leading NGBs. Jake has led a number of economic impact studies; for example, assessing the impact of the 2006 Ryder Cup on the Irish economy, the impact of the 2005/06 Volvo Ocean Race on the host region for the start of the race (Galicia, Spain), and the economic value that the sport of Rugby League contributes to the economy of the North West of England. Strategic restructuring projects for football leagues covers work related to the Danish, Greek, Singapore and Swiss Leagues, and the United Soccer Leagues (USL) in the United States.
His sports venues expertise encompasses business plan development for major UK stadium projects (e.g. Everton FC and Lancashire County Cricket Club) and advising on strategies to maximise ticket pricing and corporate hospitality revenues for several English Premiership football clubs. Jake joined Deloitte in 1999, after his MBA (Football Industries) at Liverpool University. Previously, he was with McDonald's Corporation, in a strategic planning and market research role. Jake is a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC, and enjoys hillwalking and mountaineering.
