Alexis Kokkinos is a Partner in the National Tax Technical group at Deloitte, and has over 13 years’ experience advising corporate clients.

Alexis’s expertise is sought after by Government – he has recently been appointed a member of an expert panel assisting the Board of Taxation in its review of tax arrangements applying to managed investment trusts. Alexis is also involved in consultation with Treasury on all major taxation reforms, and sits on various ATO National Tax Liaison Group subgroups, including the Tax Consolidation subgroup, the Finance and Investments subgroup and the Trust subgroup. More recently, Alexis has been extrinsically involved in consultation with Treasury on the tax consolidation amendments, including the scrip for scrip announcement. Alexis is a regular presenter at seminars on taxation matters.

The National Tax Technical team has over a century of ATO experience between them, and a range of diverse skills that goes beyond tax technical topics. From a team member hailing from France (whose expertise came in handy recently when National Tax consulted with the Board of Taxation on the review of the anti-tax deferral regime), to a singer who performs at functions and a couple of expert skiers, the team is known for their ability to think outside the box. Alexis and the team provide technical support, national training, key tax updates, alerts and guidance materials to Deloitte, as well as being widely published including in Charter and the Taxation in Australia journals.

Alexis is always looking for a competitive edge – whether he’s absorbing the detail of the latest tax reform legislation, playing soccer, learning Mandarin, or sprinting with the Athletics club.
