Clarence Kwan leads our organization-wide efforts to assist U.S. companies investing or operating in China, as well as Chinese companies seeking to access U.S. markets. From 1995 to 2002, Clarence was based in Beijing as the deputy chief executive officer of our China practice. Prior to being in China, he spent three years in Prague, Czech Republic, and also has worked in Houston, New York and Taipei since joining the organization in 1978.

Clarence advises government agencies, multinational companies and large national enterprises in the following areas:

• Cross-border investments and market entry strategy
• Mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buyouts
• Corporate finance and overseas capital raising
• State-owned enterprise restructuring and privatization 
• Financial audits and internal control
• Corporate governance and organization structure
• Financial management process improvements

• Chairman – China Committee, U.S. Council for International Business
• Chairman – China Task Force, Business & Industry Advisory Committee to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
• Adviser – Federation of Investment Promotion Agencies of China under the Ministry of Commerce
• Adviser – China Association of Chief Financial Officers
