Meet Tonie Leatherberry
Principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP

Antoinette (Tonie) LeatherberryAntoinette "Tonie" Leatherberry, a principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP (Deloitte Consulting) in the Strategy and Operations practice, builds and maintains deep connections to colleagues and clients alike. Helping them achieve their goals is just one way she finds satisfaction in her professional life. And, as the Northeast region’s Governance, Risk & Compliance practice leader for Deloitte LLP and as chairperson of Deloitte Consulting’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Tonie certainly sustains plenty of relationships within the organization.

Her hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In May 2006, Tonie was named one of the top 25 consultants by Consulting magazine and featured on the cover of the May/June 2006 issue. Recently she was nominated by Computerworld magazine as one of IT’s top 100 leaders.

As chairperson of Deloitte Consulting’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Tonie is forging strategic relationships with such organizations as the National Black MBA, National Society of Hispanic MBAs, League of Black Women, Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the Executive Leadership Council. Through her leadership, Deloitte Consulting is achieving recognition for its efforts to provide career opportunities to diverse talent and to make diversity a business dialogue.

Tonie is a longtime participant in the Deloitte U.S. Firms’ Women’s Initiative, which supports the growth and advancement of women professionals. Tonie launched a series called “Diversifying the American Board” to educate women and minorities about how to become members of a board of directors.

Actively sought after by external groups as a speaker on diversity and women’s issues, Tonie has shared her views at special events and conferences hosted by the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and the Harvard Business School.

Tonie is a member of the Deloitte U.S. Firms’ Partner and Director Candidacy and Director Advisory Committees. Prior to being named chairperson of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Tonie was the Central Atlantic regional Diversity and Inclusion champion.

She holds a master of business administration degree in operations from Northeastern University and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, with a concentration in manufacturing engineering, from Boston University.

My greatest reward is when I feel like I’ve had a direct involvement in my clients’ personal and professional achievements. Recently, I witnessed a client get a significant promotion after successfully completing a mission critical project.
