Meet Greg Pellegrino
Global Managing Director, Public Sector – Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
Global Managing Director, Public Sector

Greg Pellegrino, who has helped government organizations improve performance and constituent service through the adoption of leading practices and emerging technologies, has worked with major public and private sector organizations for more than 18 years. He has helped clients achieve results through a variety of award-winning programs in the public sector, ranging from homeland security to organ transplantation.

Greg also has led industries, such as consumer business, to apply emerging technologies to address key business issues. In 2002, he was called to serve a U.S. security administration to help create an award-winning e-government program for communications and information sharing.

Greg was a featured panelist at the U.S. Federation of Government Information Processing Councils’ Management of Change conference, where he spoke on the challenges of meeting citizen expectations in the 21st century. He was cochairman of the Privacy and Security Working Group for the national study on Homeland Security from a Citizen’s Perspective, sponsored by the Council for Excellence in Government, and was a featured panelist at one of the televised national town hall meetings.

He is chairman of the board of directors for the Homeland Security and Defense Business Council in Washington, D.C., a nonprofit association of leading companies focused on the homeland security market. The mission of the council is to advance the agenda of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by creating a forum for senior executives among the DHS' leading suppliers and supporters to engage in open and candid dialogue with senior government officials on homeland security objectives and challenges.

The appointment came as government and industry continued to increase their focus on security after 9-11. "Leading governments and corporations are moving toward a more proactive approach to the strategic issues related to infrastructure and supply chain protection," Greg said. For example, a recent survey from Deloitte & Touche LLP of chief executive officers (CEOs) among the Fast 500 technology companies found that CEOs see investments in security as a business opportunity. "The increased investment in security across key industry sectors will be transformed through more robust and efficient customer-supplier relationships in what we are calling the new 'Secure Economy,' " Greg said.

He holds a bachelor's degree in management information systems from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
