 Gardiner Hempel is a partner with Deloitte Tax LLP based in New York City. He has 29 years of experience that includes international assignments in Germany, Hong Kong and Japan. He has served as the global practice leader for Deloitte Tax LLP's Global Employment Solutions practice and is currently a part of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Global Management Group.
Gardiner is a member of the Ethics Hearing Committee of the Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM's) board of directors, and is the past president of SHRM's Global Forum board of directors. He also serves on the board of directors and Finance Committee of the National Foreign Trade Council. He has served as treasurer of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and comptroller of the American-Japan Society. He has completed a two-year term on the Internal Revenue Service Commissioner's Advisory Council. He is a trustee for the Augustus Saint-Gaudens Memorial and chair of the Finance Committee. He is also president of the Tuxedo Park Fire Department where he has been a member since 1999. He has served as financial secretary from 2000-2004, vice president in 2005 and president in 2006.
Gardiner earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from University of California at Berkeley. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California, New York and New Jersey as well as a Certified Global Professional in Human Resources.
