In the United States, Audit Committees are required by the New York Securities Exchange's corporate governance listing standards to perform an annual performance evaluation. To assist in the process, Deloitte in the US has developed the Audit Committee Performance Evaluation. 

This is an update to a tool that was published in the US in 2002, which has been used by the Audit Committees of many of our US clients and might be of use to Audit Committees in South Africa to evaluate their performance.
