Deloitte Supports National Organizations that Help Companies Maximize Community Involvement

AngelPoints

AngelPoints helps companies realize the maximum social and business value from their community involvement programs. As part of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP's overall commitment to corporate citizenship, we are proud to have contributed to the development of AngelPoints, helping expand its offerings and capabilities.

Most corporations understand that effective community relations makes sense—not only for society, but also for business. Yet many struggle with achieving their desired impact because of serious challenges—communication, program management, technology infrastructure, employee participation. AngelPoints believes that, given the proper tools, corporate community relations programs can have a tremendous impact. Their Web-based application provides corporations with the infrastructure to realize meaningful social and bottom line results.  And Deloitte believes in AngelPoints.

Business Strengthening America

In June 2002, a diverse group of business leaders created Business Strengthening America (BSA), a self-directed, multi-year, peer-to-peer effort to engage thousands of America's business leaders in a campaign to encourage civic engagement and service. Following an initial meeting at the White House with President Bush, the business leaders have worked collaboratively to define a national, business-driven effort to engage our entire community—from Fortune 500 corporations to small, locally owned businesses—in a campaign to strengthen American society.

These companies share a core belief: An increased commitment to volunteering and civic responsibility builds a stronger society and enables businesses to "do well by doing good" because it deepens employee, consumer and shareholder relationships. Deloitte is proud to be a member of Business Strengthening America.

The Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College

The Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College encourages companies to act as economic and social assets by integrating social interests with core business objectives. Through research, executive education, consultation and convenings on issues of corporate citizenship, The Center is the leading organization helping corporations establish corporate citizenship as a business essential.  Part of the Carroll School of Management, The Center has more than 300 corporate members.

Deloitte recently sponsored the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship's 10th “Best MBA Student Paper in Corporate Citizenship” award program.  The competition is sponsored by corporations each year with the hope of increasing awareness and interest about corporate social responsibility among the next generation of business leaders.  Deloitte is proud to be a member of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship.

The Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy

The Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy is the only national forum of business CEOs and chairpersons with an agenda exclusively focused on corporate philanthropy. The committee is not a fundraising organization. Rather, it serves dual advocacy and facilitative roles in the cause of expanded strategic philanthropy. Funded by private foundations and by its founding members, the committee represents corporate leaders in their pursuit to better serve communities.  Deloitte is proud to be a member of the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy.

Hands On Network

Hands On Network (formerly CityCares) is leading a national civic movement bringing people together to tackle tough community problems. The organizing force behind the movement is their growing network of local nonprofit organizations that act as civic action centers. The Hands On approach inspires volunteers, creates leaders, and changes lives and communities through effective volunteer action. Deloitte is an active member of Hands On and CityCares affiliates across the country, working with them on IMPACT Day and local volunteer initiatives throughout the year.

The Points of Light Foundation

The Points of Light Foundation, founded in 1990 by former President George Bush, is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes volunteerism. It is the nation's leading advocate for, and authority on, volunteering. The Foundation was created in an effort to tap the creative energy of the people and its organizations to connect communities and individuals. Deloitte is proud to serve as publication sponsor of the Points of Light Foundation's Principles of Excellence on Workplace Volunteering, a  specific call to action targeted at CEOs and other business leaders to demonstrate a contemporary business case for workplace volunteering.  Deloitte is proud to be a member of the Points of Light Foundation.
