How to configure your Web browser

You can configure your Web browser to alert you before accepting cookies or Web beacons (or Web bugs) if you are using Netscape 3.0 or above, or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.0 or above. If you select this option, you will receive a warning every time one of these tracking messages is sent, and have the option of accepting or declining it.

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape browser versions 4.0 and above, you can elect to turn off all cookies and beacons, to allow some, or to be alerted before you accept them. The following instructions use the term cookies, but the settings will affect Web beacons as well.

Netscape Navigator (Windows and Macintosh)
In Version 7.0  Go to the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences." In the left menu panel, click "Privacy and Security," then select the section titled "Cookies" and check one of the boxes labeled to reject some, reject all or warn you before setting incoming cookies. After making your selection, choose "OK."

In Version 4.0  Go to the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences." In the left menu panel, choose "Advanced". On the right panel, find the section titled "Cookies" and check one of the boxes labeled to reject some, reject all or warn you before setting incoming cookies. After making your selection, choose "OK."

In Version 3.0  Go to the "Options menu" and select "Network Preferences." Then select the "Protocols" tab. Locate the section titled "Show an alert" and check the box labeled "Accepting a Cookie." This means you can read each cookie as it comes in, and hit "OK" to allow it, or "Cancel" to reject it. After making your selection, choose "OK."

Internet Explorer (Windows)
In Version 6.0  Go to the "Tools menu" and select "Internet Options." Choose the "Privacy" tab at the top. Go to "Settings." To disable, select "High."  Select "OK" to accept the changes.

In Version 5.0  Go to the "Tools menu" and select "Internet Options." Go to the "Security" tab at the top. Choose "Custom level." Scroll down to "Cookies" and check "Disable." Select "OK" to accept the changes.

In Version 4.0  Go to the "View" menu and select "Internet Options." Select the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down the list and find the "Cookies" section. There you can select to accept all, warn before accepting, or reject all. After making your selection, select "OK."

In Version 3.0  Go to the "View" menu and click on "Options." Select the "Advanced" tab. In the "Warnings" section, check the box labeled "Warn" before accepting cookies. This means you can read each cookie as it comes in, and hit "OK" to allow it or "Cancel" to reject it. After making your selection, choose "OK."

Internet Explorer (Macintosh)
In Version 3.0 and later  Go to the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences." In the left menu, go to "Cookies" (you may have to select the small arrow next to "Receiving Files" to see the "Cookies" option). On the right, find the pull-down menu labeled "When receiving cookies" and select "Ask for each cookie." This means you can read each cookie as it comes in, and hit "OK" to allow it or "Cancel" to reject it. After making your selection, choose "OK."
