The U.S. government faces a series of extraordinary challenges. As the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported in 21^st Century Challenges, national security issues, the aging population, mounting fiscal pressures and a host of other issues require wholesale review of industrial-era policies and programs.

With the 2008 presidential election determined, now is the time to start tackling these challenges and putting forward thoughtful solutions and implementation plans for the incoming administration.

Toward this end, Deloitte’s Public Leadership Institute is pleased to host a series of dialogues that will convene a well-balanced mix of Beltway opinion leaders, senior executives and subject-matter professionals to candidly discuss several of the top policy and management challenges the GAO has identified. Our goal is to develop a road map to help guide the next administration in tackling the critical challenges of the 21^st century. Our series began in late 2007 and will continue through 2009.

Session Summaries:

	Next Generation Government In October 2008, Deloitte's Public Leadership Institute and The Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School convened the country’s leading thinkers on government reform and implementers of major government transformations over the past three decades to discuss this topic.
	Changing the Game: The Role of Private and Public Sectors in Protecting Data  In October 2008, members of industry and government began the process of changing the game of data protection by working together on a plan to help private and public sectors become more proactive about protecting data. Learn about their findings.
	Web 2.0: The Future of Collaborative Government Deloitte and the National Academy of Public Administration hosted a dialogue session in June 2008 that explored how Web 2.0 will transform the way government works.
	Science, Technology and Math Education in America: Bridging the Performance Gap The Honorable Tom Ridge, senior advisor to the State Government sector of Deloitte LLP, and Deloitte U.S. State Government Leader Bob Campbell hosted a national education forum in October 2007.
