Water UK

In January 2005, we supported the Water UK City Conference 2005 and conducted a survey taking advantage of the excellent number of delegates from across the industry.  The purpose of this was to gage feeling around the recent PR04 and request predictions for the next 5 years on a variety of issues facing the water sector.

Doug King, a Senior Partner at Deloitte, gave a presentation on the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on water companies.   In particular, IFRS will affect those with pension deficits and which currently discount deferred tax, although the current method by which companies account for fixed assets, the largest number on the balance sheet, will change for all.

Water UK is an industry association that represents all water and wastewater service suppliers at national and European level.  The company provides a positive framework for the water industry to engage with government, regulators, stakeholder organisations and the public. As the voice of the water industry, Water UK takes a leading role in providing a platform for debate and in developing a policy framework to move the UK water industry towards a sustainable future.

As a provider of professional services to the water industry, it is key that we understand the issues facing our clients today.  As such, our partnership with Water UK creates opportunities for us and our clients to share best practice and encourages dialogue between stakeholders in the industry.
