 Chinese Cultural Foundation
The New York based Chinese Cultural Foundation was invited by the World Economic Forum to participate in the China Business Summit. Deloitte supported the Foundation to host a gala dinner and to share Mu Xin's artwork with the summit participants.
Gala Dinner
The Foundation hosted a gala dinner, sponsored by Deloitte, in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Saturday, 11 September. This was to present the rare birds of China - a project commissioned to record China's rare and endangered birds - and to highlight China's cultural, environmental and conservation efforts. Deloitte partners attended, along with Jose-Maria Figueres, CEO of the World Economic Forum; Wang Qishan, the Mayor of Beijing and other dignitaries.
Mu Xin
Chinese artist Mu Xin was recognized at the summit when the World Economic Forum gave him a lifetime achievement award for being one of the most significant artists, writers and poets in modern Chinese history. During the Chinese cultural revolution of 1966 to 1976, Mu Xin continued to write and paint, risking his life in the process. This was the first time that there has been a comprehensive showing of his work in China. Participants had the opportunity to view some of Mu Xin's most important work in an exhibition at the summit venue. Additionally a catalogue of his work was distributed to all participants - Deloitte sponsored both of these initiatives.
