.jpg) Giam Swiegers is Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Australia. Giam began his career as an auditor with Deloitte in South Africa, and since then has worked for Deloitte on three continents and six cities. He moved into his current position on 01 June 2003. Since late 2007 Giam has been a member of Deloitte’s Global Board and Global Board Governance Committee. He is also a member of the Deloitte Asia Pacific Executive Committee and the Global Innovation Council. His stewardship of the Australian practice has led the firm to achieve the 2005 BRW/St George Client Service award as the ‘Most Innovative Firm’ in professional services in Australia, the 2006 CFO magazine ‘Accounting Services Firm of the year award and the 2008 Deloitte Global 'Standard of Excellence Award' for innovation management. On the people side, Giam has introduced an ‘inspiring women’ initiative in the firm. For the sixth year running Deloitte has been recognised as an employer of choice for women by the Equal Opportunity for Women Awards in 2007. Giam was awarded ‘2005 best CEO for the advancement of women in business’. In September 2006 Giam was recognised by the Australian HR Awards, winning the ‘HR Champion – CEO’ award. Giam played 1st Grade Rugby and is a passionate golfer, fly fisherman and wine lover. Deloitte’s Australian practice has net revenue of over $850 million. With over 420 partners plus a team of more than 4,500 people, the Australian practice comprises 10 offices covering every state, plus Papua New Guinea.
