Characteristics of the Workforce Generations

Today’s work force is made up largely of three generations, each with their distinct communication style and preferences.

Generation Y
Born between 1982 and 1995, this is the youngest generation in the work force. They’re flooding into our workplaces with boundless energy and ambitions to match.

Generation X
Born between 1965 and 1981, Xers have never met an establishment, guideline, rule, organization or process they couldn’t find a way to challenge.

Boomers
Born between 1945 and 1964, this generation comprises most of today’s world leaders and executives. Having been shaped by the post-war era, boomers have elevated corporate gamesmanship to new levels in their drive to achieve and excel.

Veterans
This “silent generation” has had a profound impact on how our modern organizations were established in the 20th century and laid the foundation for how today’s work force thinks. Although this generation is still technically in the workplace, most are retired.
