Our Alliances: IBM

For more than eight years, IBM and Deloitte have had a global strategic relationship, working together to provide services that our clients value.

Bringing Value to Our Clients
IBM is the world's largest information technology company, with 80 years of experience in helping businesses innovate. Worldwide, IBM offers a wide range of services and technologies to help clients capitalize on innovation and take advantage of the new era of "on demand" business.

Deloitte provides services that leverage IBM technologies for global corporations, to help our clients in their efforts to translate advanced technologies into greater enterprise value while more effectively mitigating risk.

Experience with IBM Technology
Working together allows Deloitte to combine its breadth of business experience, knowledge and skills with IBM’s extensive portfolios of hardware, software and services. Deloitte has dedicated significant resources to educating and training its personnel on key IBM technologies, including:

Joint Offerings
Through this effort, Deloitte is better prepared to provide our clients with more comprehensive business services, enabled by IBM technologies. The major areas of focus for these offerings are:

  • Security Services – Based on the IBM Tivoli Security Solution software suite, Deloitte’s Identity Management, Authorization, Authentication and Protection (i-MAAP) services are designed to help clients harness their information technology (IT) infrastructure to take full advantage of efficiency and profitability — without compromising security or privacy.
  • ServicesPrint for SOA – Leveraging the IBM SOA architecture, this Deloitte methodology supports cost-effective business integration by providing clients with integration architecture and patterns, as well as prebuilt code and IBM WebSphere product configurations for accelerating development.
  • Model Driven Business Transformation (RealTime) – To help extend the benefits of Straight Through Processing (STP) in financial services and other industries, this IBM WebSphere tool can be used by clients to model processes 60–70 percent faster than before to assess the impact of process changes on the business.
  • Enterprise Applications (SAP and Oracle) – More than 30,000 SAP installations run on IBM technology, and the IBM alliance team regularly assists Deloitte account teams in providing implementation-related services in support of complex SAP-based Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) projects. IBM has an alliance with Oracle — including JD Edwards (JDE), PeopleSoft, Siebel Systems and Retek — and Deloitte leverages IBM infrastructure solutions as part of our Enterprise Application (EA) services delivery. In addition, the “Power of 3” joint offering from Deloitte, Oracle and IBM helps JDE clients in their efforts to upgrade and improve their environment while preserving information technology (IT) investments, extending their technology portfolio and better managing risk.
  • Data Quality and EA integration – IBM Information Integration software is designed to help clients in their efforts to deliver trusted, consistent and reusable information to applications and business processes. Deloitte leverages this technology in a framework of assessment, remediation and continuous monitoring to help clients address complex, difficult data quality issues and build a sustainable data quality management process.
  • Streamlining Project Development – Deloitte and IBM also have teamed to develop our JumpStart service offering, designed to help clients reduce development costs and accelerate time to market. The JumpStart platform gives clients immediate access to a preconfigured IBM software environment, which is designed to help ease full integration testing, establish production environment, and allow projects to effectively progress and go live.
  • Integrated Performance Management (IPM) – Deloitte uses this structured management approach to help clients in their efforts to translate strategic objectives into operational results through a lens focused on value creation. Deloitte and Cognos bring together experience and skills in technology, accounting and reporting; knowledge of industry-specific and current legislative requirements; and effective planning, budgeting and forecasting practices.
  • Close, Consolidate, Report Performance (CCR) Blueprint – The DeloitteAdvantage CCR Blueprint includes a Cognos Controller implementation road map, tools and templates designed by mapping each step in the CCR process to control activities that achieve over 30 regulatory control objectives based on the COSO framework. This capability integrates technology, processes and controls to provide clients with a comprehensive, value-added component to our services.

“ “The IBM-Deloitte Alliance has the right leadership, sales, technical and marketing resources to make this relationship a huge success for IBM, Deloitte and, most of all, our mutual clients.”

- Glenn Brogan
