Decision-making is a function of every employee in an organization, but clearly certain decisions have more impact than others, depending on the scope of the issue at hand. Some decisions can affect the entire organization, the supply chain or daily operations, and will often involve employees who work across different departments, business units or geographies. When an organization’s decision-making is governed according to clearly defined rights and responsibilities, decisions are more likely to be in alignment with current business strategy, accepted by the parties involved and implemented with fewer conflicts across the organization. It’s imperative to have a cohesive, well articulated decision-making framework so that all participants understand their roles, responsibilities and authority — and adhere to them. Although some people may view a decision-making framework as burdensome or overly bureaucratic, we believe it can in fact be the pathway to speeding business initiatives and ushering in positive change. Read the attached white paper to learn more on how decisions can benefit from a formal framework.
