There are many careers from which young people have to choose. They can be an accountant, a teacher, a chef, a business owner, or a consultant; the list of potential career options goes on and on. But how can young people in today's world begin to determine what is available to them? How can they identify the career that is most appropriate for them? The Deloitte Foundation realizes that today's young people are tomorrow's talent, and understands the value of exposing them to the many potential career options. The Deloitte Foundation recently teamed with Neale Godfrey, author of Life Inc.: The Ultimate Career Guide for Young People to provide her book, companion website, and other valuable tools to help middle and high school students begin thinking about possible careers. The Life Inc. materials will be a significant part of the recently launched Deloitte & Touche USA LLP Pre-College Outreach Program, a Next Generation initiative which helps young people begin thinking about careers before they attend college. Life Inc.: The Ultimate Career Guide for Young People provides creative ways for students to begin thinking about future careers. The book also includes profiles of professionals in various careers, and some of our Deloitte professionals (e.g., Sharon Allen and Stan Smith) have been profiled in this book. The associated website encourages young people to examine their likes/dislikes and talents in innovative and interactive ways. Techniques of gaming and assessments are some of the tools utilized. Along with access to the website and the book (Life Inc.: The Ultimate Career Guide for Young People), there are also:

The Student Workbook:
A personal journal for self-discovery |
The Teacher's Guide:
5-10 lessons created
for middle- and high-school students |
These tools will serve as a valuable way of helping your children and children within your community begin to identify career options. Visit the Life Inc. website to learn more or obtain copies of the materials. If you have any questions, contact usnationallifeinc@deloitte.com.
