Nick van Dam
The e-LEarning Fieldbook.

Born in The Netherlands in 1961, Nick van Dam is the global chief learning officer for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, leading the transformation of its classroom-based Global Education function to a just-in-time and highly e-enabled learning environment. This effort was awarded the London Financial Times/Corporate University Exchange (CUX) 2001 Award of Excellence for "Using Technology to Create a Continuous Learning Environment," and the 2002 Financial Times/CUX Award for "Innovative and Best Practices in Learning." Prior to joining Deloitte, Van Dam was employed by Siemens in Europe.

Since 1987, Nick has been involved in the design of technology-based learning solutions including simulations and business games. As an internationally recognized consultant and thought leader in Learning and Human Resource Development (HRD), he has written articles and been quoted by publications such as Financial Times, Forbes, Fortune, Business Week, Management Consulting, Learning & Training Innovations, T+D Magazine, Chief Learning Officer Magazine, Bizz and IK. He also has lectured on globalization, cross-cultural competence and HRD at business schools and conferences in the United States and Europe. Additionally, he has authored or co-authored a number of books in Dutch and English.

Nick is the founder of e-Learning for Kids, a non-profit foundation for children which provides schools in need with Internet-based learning solutions. All royalties from this book will be donated to this organization.

Nick is a graduate of Vrije Leergangen — Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam (Economics, Education) and Universiteit van Amsterdam (Organization and Management). He lives in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, with his wife, photographer Judith Grimbergen, and their son, Yannick.
