Public and private sector organizations must find a way to overcome the barriers, boundaries and silos that impede service delivery. Such divisions weaken an organization’s ability to anticipate, assess and respond to challenges. The organization of the 21st century must transform into a networked model, one that dissolves the traditional approach of ‘need to know’ and ‘need to share,’ and encourages knowledge-sharing through ubiquitous access to information.
The Deloitte Center for Network Innovation helps government and industry improve mission performance by optimizing five core areas to enable improved, more informed decision-making. Implementing a network-centric approach requires adjustments to technology, information management, organizational culture and leadership.
An Integrated Approach
Network-centric operations are enabled by five building blocks, all of which must be optimized for success. The first three — communications infrastructure, information risk and information management — provide the technical foundation for network-centric operations. For many organizations, the non-technical elements may pose the real hurdles to an effective network-centric operation. Those elements include the final two building blocks: organization and governance, and people and leadership. The Center for Network Innovation helps align the elements into an integrated vision and approach.
