In view of IPO boom of local Kazakhstan companies , European stock exchanges try to establish business relations with business elite of Kazakhstan. London Stock Exchange is one of the oldest stock exchanges not only in Europe but also in the world. Its history dates back to the end of 17th century. Today LSE is one of the leading trading platforms in terms of launched IPOs. Currently, LSE counts 554 international issuers and this figure exceeds the number of issuers at NYSE and NASDAQ altogether.
It is of no surprise that Kazakhstan companies, which have been experiencing a large growth within the last years and invading neighbouring markets, are extremely interested in London trading platform which can provide issuers with sufficient amount of money.
Deloitte, in cooperation with of the UK Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a business meeting with Lord Mayor of City of London and Kazakhstan business elite on 28 March 2007, in Intecontinental Almaty.
Speakers included Mr. John Stuttard, Lord Mayor, Mr. Chris Gibson–Smith, Chairman of London Stock Exchange, Mr. Arken Arystanov, Chairman of Regional Financial Center Almaty, Mr. Darryl Hadaway, Managing Partner of Deloitte LLP, Caspian. The main goal of visit of John Stuttard to Kazakhstan was to strengthen ties between London business community and Kazakhstan business elite.
