Within the last years CIS businessmen have been provided with a new opportunity to raise funds and to attract new technologies from Europe, North America and Asia through IPO at international capital markets.
Capital, raised this way, exceeds opportunities of local capital markets in multifold; however, issuers should meet strict requirements of compliance with certain standards, set by western financiers. Global system of capital markets, strong risk management performance and a more than three hundred years history have contributed to the need to meet all requirements set.
The local stock market is experiencing rapid growth, which became possible after reforms introduced by the Government and strengthening of business in CIS.
Today IPO at international stock exchanges is a very attractive way of fund-raising. This can be proved by more than twenty recent IPOs of CIS companies and preparing of fifty IPOs for the next two years.
All these and other issues were discussed at the International Conference “IPO. Practical recommendations”, held by audit and consulting company Deloitte on 6-7 November 2006, at Hyatt Regency Almaty .
On the first day of the Conference, issues like advantages and features of listing at stock exchanges of Hong Kong, Warsaw, London and Almaty; legal and tax considerations of IPO launching, importance of corporate governance were considered by speakers. Presentation on “What it is to
be a Public Company”, made by Ainash Omarbayeva from Charaltyn Company, which has already been listed, and speech made by Deloitte Partners Daniyar Tursunkulov on IPO diagnostics, Dina Yuldasheva on Alternative Financing Options, Zhanar Aitkhozhina on Tax Considerations and Ulbolsyn Nurumova on Financial Reporting Procedures were of a special interest.
On 7 November 2006, guest specialists from London division of Deloitte made a presentation on stages of IPO launching at London Stock Exchange.
