The global financial crisis has had a profound impact on chief financial officers. In addition to grappling with the challenges of an uncertain economy, CFOs must continue oversee day-to-day finance activities and make decisions about the future. For instance, how much decision support should be automated? Should CFOs separate finance and accounting? Should they hire for current skills or future potential? The list of questions goes on. But there are no right or wrong answers. CFOs must weigh both sides to determine the best course of action.

In this edition of Deloitte Canada Insights, Doug Wilkinson, national leader of the Control Assurance practice, and Steve McCaughey, national leader of the Finance & Performance Management practice, debate some of the key issues facing CFOs today. Listen to both sides of the debates, and read the When CFOs debate workbook to arrive at the right decisions for your finance organization.
