Deloitte Auditing and Consulting Ltd. (Deloitte Ltd.) is extremely satisfied with the decision delivered today by the Metropolitan Court in the Postabank case.   The case has been dismissed.
The Hungarian State has been unable to submit evidence to the satisfaction of the Metropolitan Court to prove, to the requisite standard,  its claim that damages had been caused by Deloitte Ltd.
This case has been ongoing since December 2000 at significant expense to Deloitte Ltd. and, we assume, to the Hungarian State.  We trust that the Hungarian State will now carefully consider whether, in light of today’s verdict, it is appropriate to invest further resources in  a case it has been unable to prove in eight years.
Deloitte conducted the respective audits of Postabank with due care, professionalism and in accordance with the relevant domestic and international standards and laws. It is inappropriate to comment further before we see the decision of the Metropolitan Court in writing.
