NEW YORK, October 22, 2008 — Ticket Software LLC timed the explosive growth of the secondary ticket industry perfectly as evidenced by its astounding five year revenue growth of 111,580 percent. The record growth was recognized by Deloitte at an awards event held this evening at The Metropolitan Club in New York City. The New York, New Jersey, Connecticut Technology Fast 50 ranks technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies headquartered in the three states by percentage revenue growth over five years.

We commend them for envisioning and then helping to create an exciting new business model that combines both retail ticket sales with innovative backend software development and licensing,” said Kevin Buckley, Deloitte’s Fast 50 program director. “Innovation is a key growth driver for a number of our winners this year -- and I think a continued focus on driving innovation will serve companies well during these challenging economic times.”

For the first time, the region’s Fast 50 comprises the fastest growing technology companies from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The results show a remarkable balance among the states with Ticket Software LLC of Vernon, CT, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., of Cheshire, CT and Protegrity Corporation of Stamford, CT ranking #1, 3 and 6; while The Orchard, Inc., Sirius XM Radio, Inc. and SpeechCycle, Inc., all of New York City, ranked #2, 4 and, 5 respectively. Rounding out the Top 10 are New Jersey-based Brighton Cromwell, LLC of Randolph, XCEL Solutions Corp. of Matawan, US Tech Solutions, Inc. of Jersey City and South Plainfield-based PTC Therapeutics ranking No. 7, 8, 9 and 10, respectively.

The 2008 Technology Fast 50 results reveal a number of other interesting industry trends and facts.

  • 38 companies are private, demonstrating that the region is an excellent location for high-growth, innovative start-ups, as well as for leading, more established companies
  • Three “new media” companies cracked the Fast 50: The Orchard (No. 2), Sirius XM Radio (No. 4) and Vibrant Media (No. 22). A fourth, Thumbplay Inc. is the 2008 Rising Star with the fastest growing revenue over the two years 2005-2007 (34,657 percent)
  • The Top 10 companies experienced an average revenue growth rate of 16,649 percent over five years
  • 18 companies make their first appearance in the Fast 50 while 64 percent are repeat winners including four-time winners SIGA Technologies of New York City and Vision Systems Group, Inc., of Somerset, NJ.

Fast 50 Methodology
Technology Fast 50 companies are selected based on percentage revenue growth over the five years from 2003 to 2007.  To be considered, Technology Fast 50 entrants must have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2003 and at least $5,000,000 in 2007; be headquartered in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut; own proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of its operating revenues, or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology.
