Data migration
Getting data from A to B with speed and integrity
Data migration cover

If you’re implementing new systems it’s almost certain your data will need to be migrated – and odds on, there will be problems, leading to delays, cost overruns and substandard data in your new ERP, CRM, Data Warehouse or Billing system. Net result: the return on investment suddenly looks a lot less attractive.

Why are migrations so difficult?
Because most organisations set out without the right skills in place, with an unrealistic plan or simply leave it too late. Source data is not fully understood, analysis is time consuming and unreliable, complexity is underestimated and rework unpredictable. Systems do not join as expected; planning becomes guesswork.

In successful migrations, the project team recognise from the outset that migration is far more than a technical ‘lift and shift’ exercise. As critical business data – customers, finance, assets and so on – is being moved and altered, it requires strong business direction, suitable control mechanisms, testing and business sign-off.

How Deloitte can help
As well as working with you to deliver successful data migrations, helping you manage and mitigate the associated risks and implement the governance required, we can provide assurance over the processes and controls you have in place.
