Deloitte webcasts explain IFRS

“The impact of IRFS 7 is underestimated; it is the biggest change in the period of calm up to 2009 promised by the IASB.”
Prof. Dr. Ralph ter Hoeven RA (Partner Deloitte, Audit Corporate Market)

IFRS Webcasts
The transition to IFRS application is a complicated and time-consuming process. Despite the many rules, certain matters are left unclear. In practice, Deloitte encounters many situations where the application of IFRS is not clear-cut and a responsible interpretation is needed. We would like to share the knowledge we gained from this demanding IFRS practice with you in an forum and open discussion in four special webcasts; radio broadcasts on the internet lasting 20 to 30 minutes each. Deloitte professionals and specialists will shine their light on IFRS for you. They will set out the possible impact IFRS may have on your financial statements, and the accounting areas where important choices have to be made.

Tune in to the Deloitte IFRS webcasts (only in Dutch) on:

  • 23 January 2008: Items to consider for 2007 balance sheet closing under IFRS.
Start the broadcast (duration: 30 minutes). You may see a pop up or yellow bar in your monitor screen after clicking this link. This means that you have to download software to be able to play the webcast. The software will install itself as soon as you click on the pop up or yellow bar.
Topic of the first broadcast: The IFRS financial statements of listed companies are well and truly caught in the spotlights. Front-line (auditors) and second-line (AFM) supervisory bodies assess them critically. The transfer from the Dutch accounting principles to IFRS is characterised by a change from wide scopes to a strict, Anglo-Saxon culture of compliance. After all, each principle must be complied with. So what difficulties do companies face and where do the shortcomings lie? Deloitte has formulated ten areas of attention for the 2007 financial statements. Professor Ralph ter Hoeven and Dingeman Manschot discuss this top 10, briefly and to the point.

  • 15 November 2007: IFRS 7: the impact on the financial statements 2007.
Start the broadcast (duration: 30 minutes).
Topic of the first broadcast: In the first webcast, we discuss your financial statements for 2007 and the new rules for compliance with IFRS 7. Other subjects discussed during the first webcast are: splitting into categories, hedge accounting, credit risk analysis, sensitivity analysis, and term analysis.
