Managing risk in an extended enterprise: Outsourcing and offshoring - February 11, 2009

As the trend for organizations to extend their enterprise beyond their immediate control through outsourcing and offshoring arrangements continues to increase so will the need to manage the risk that coexists in such extended relationships. During this session we will present our perspective on current trends in outsourcing and offshoring along with our views on the attendant risk and how to take a risk intelligent approach in managing these relationships. We will share our insights on best practices for the outsourcing life cycle from pre-contract, through the initial period of the relationship and ongoing.
Governance – Not just the board - March 17, 2009

The focus on corporate governance at the board level has increased due to recent corporate scandals and the legal responses to them. As a result, many boards are asking management whether they have the appropriate management governance practices in place and whether these practices have been effectively operationalized throughout the organization. Are businesses and corporate functions buying into and appropriately executing on governance practices developed by senior management? Boards are now pressing management to benchmark their management governance practices against industry practices and report back to the board on their assessment. During this session, we will explore recent management governance trends and leading practices and provide insights into what organizations can do to meet increasing board expectations.
Striking a balance between policy and data protection - April 21, 2009

With today’s risk of information leakage running at an all time high, organizations have begun to shift their information security efforts to include a greater focus on data protection. Information breaches have already resulted in fines, lawsuits, damaged reputations, loss of customer confidence and credit card fraud—and now we’re seeing a push for breach notification law in Canada. Information security efforts need to focus on data protection and require the right balance of policies to support legislation, user awareness, and technology. At this session, we will provide best practices to help organizations better manage their information risks.
