This hour long webcast proved to be an excellent opportunity for entities that are part of a global family of companies, with global compensation programs, as well as those that have a mobile workforce. Leading Deloitte practitioners specializing in Global Employer and Enterprise Risk Services provided their insights based on their experience from a Canadian, U.S. and global perspective.

Scientific research & experimental development
April 9, 2008

On April 9, 2008 our webcast entitled "The competitive edge: research and development incentives" took place.

Natan Aronshtam opened the webcast by providing an overview of some of the most important new developments in Canada and globally such as the joint Finance/CRA consultations which took place last fall, receiving over 150 submissions; and, the many countries which have upgraded their R&D incentive regimes in order to continue attracting R&D investment. Joanne Hausch took us through the current state of R&D tax incentives in Canada and the differences between the R&D programs in the various provinces, while Albert De Luca provided an update on the recent federal budget, and in particular the Quebec budget. Anil Chawla focused on the Ontario budget and discussed the need to consider federal-provincial corporate tax harmonization, as well as providing an update on global R&D incentives.

February 27, 2008

On February 27, 2008 we held a webcast that had examined key taxation issues that impact your corporate tax planning and compliance.

This webcast presented a unique opportunity for Canadian subsidiaries of multinationals and their foreign parent companies to participate together in an interactive session with leading Deloitte practitioners. In addition to providing a Canadian tax update, our speakers led discussions on changes arising from the protocol to the Canada-U.S. tax treaty, and provided suggestions for revising current structures to make the most of the recent changes. Our distinguished panel included Tony Ancimer, Doug Connell, Kerry Schwichtenberg and Sandra Slaats.

Canadian transfer pricing: A live discussion with the CRA
December 12, 2007

On December 12, 2007, we held a webcast on transfer pricing, a live discussion with the CRA. This unique opportunity allowed our audience to gain valuable insights from senior officials of Canada Revenue Agency and leading Deloitte partners. 

The key issues that were examined during this compelling one and a half hour webcast covered the latest trends, directions and hot issues in transfer pricing and discussed ways on how to best maximize audit, competent authority and APA processes through the transfer pricing life cycle of your organization.

Our panel included Deloitte’s Gary Zed, Sandra Goldberg and Rob O’Connor, with guests Patricia Spice, Director, Competent Authority Services Division and Phil Fortier, Director, International Tax Services Division from the CRA.
