Jane Lodge, Deloitte’s UK Manufacturing Leader, is one of the UK manufacturing industry’s 50 most influential people according to a survey published by The Manufacturer Magazine. Lodge is one of only two women listed in the ranking, which includes industry leaders, academics, consultants and lobbyists. The ‘Power 50’ was drawn from a shortlist of 150 and Deloitte is the only advisory firm represented on the list.

Manufacturers must innovate to reap rewards in emerging markets

More than half of global manufacturers (56%) expect to substantially grow revenues in emerging markets over the next three years, with nearly three-quarters anticipating significant increases in China. Less than one quarter (23%) are optimistic about prospects in developed markets, according to a new report by business advisory firm Deloitte.

The DTI has today released Q1 2006 insolvency figures and full year 2005 data by industry (05/05/06). The data shows total liquidations for the manufacturing industry in England and Wales are up on the year before. Chemical manufacturers have been hardest hit with a 62% rise in insolvencies.
