Online shopping is increasing in popularity. The volume of transactions is steadily growing, and the amount of money consumers are spending online is now in the billions. But that explosive growth is giving rise to a number of risks related to online transactions. Both parties — consumers and retailers alike — need to take steps to prevent online fraud from impacting the shopping experience. For retailers, that means embarking on a program of intrusion detection, security awareness and vulnerability management. For online shoppers, it means being aware of the risks when they click.

In this Deloitte Canada Insights podcast, Raj Krishnamoorthy, leader of the Security & Privacy Services group in Toronto, examines the latest security practices and discusses common pitfalls for online retailers and customers. Consumers will learn how to safeguard their personally identifiable information, while retailers will learn about the necessary steps to creating a safe online shopping environment for their customers.
