The Retail Review - Christmas Retail Survey 2006
Are alarm bells ringing?

Welcome to our 12th annual survey of consumer and retail sector confidence.

We have gathered extensive consumer data ahead of the main Christmas shopping rush, as well as polling the opinions of a cross-section of the UK's retailers. By taking an in-depth look at buying intentions and perceptions across different regions and demographic groups, we have been able to build up a very detailed picture of the retail landscape.

Nervous consumers, but confident retailers
It seems consumers are more pessimistic than they have been in recent times, but this is not shared by retailers who are expecting good things this Christmas. Retailers' optimism seems to supported by a return of the consumers to the high street at the expense of the department store.
