Global climate change has not only propelled environmentalists but other stakeholders, such as institutional investors, financial organizations, shareholder advocacy groups and rating agencies to take action, increasing the need for transparent information on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In turn, this has increased public scrutiny and pressure on carbon emitting companies.

Rather than sitting back and waiting for emission restraints and regulations, taking a forward-thinking approach to proactively manage GHG emissions can prove beneficial.

Recently, Deloitte conducted the GHG Emissions Management Survey with Canadian large emitters. The survey has allowed us to develop an understanding of the state of emissions management in Canada, and to identify some of the obstacles to progress in this area. Deloitte has compiled the results, key findings and implications in this report.
