Deloitte China supports Hong Kong youth's career development across the Greater Bay Area

Measures set out in Policy Address pave the way for local talent to grow in the GBA

With the fourth wave of COVID-19 hitting Hong Kong recently, the economic downturn has adversely impacted the career development and prospects for the young talent. With this in mind, and in light of the launch of the GBA Youth Employment Scheme mentioned in the Hong Kong Chief Executive's 2020 Policy Address, Deloitte China is committed to playing our part in society and investing in talent, with a view to enabling them to make a positive impact on society in Hong Kong and across the GBA.

Dennis Chow, Deloitte China chairman, says, "We echo the Chief Executive's remarks that the GBA presents huge opportunities for the development of various sectors in Hong Kong. Our firm has invested heavily in the GBA over the past few years, with a strategic focus on supporting its thriving Innovation & Technology sector, as well as recruiting and developing young talent to meet the market's ever-changing needs."

"Last year, we set up The Deloitte Greater Bay Area Center in Shenzhen, enabling us to provide dedicated services to entrepreneurs while nurturing future innovation talent. We look forward to working more closely with local authorities and the business community in developing the GBA into a world-class Innovation & Technology hub," Patrick Tsang, Deloitte China CEO adds.

Talent is key to driving growth and innovation. With the newly announced measures, including the launch of the GBA Youth Employment Scheme, Deloitte China plans to further enhance remuneration arrangement for its young talent under this scheme to settle in the Chinese Mainland. The firm will also support them as they grow and adapt within the GBA by providing mentoring and guidance on cultural integration.

"As a people-first company, for many years the firm has offered its young talent and new graduates opportunities to work across the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, enabling them to expand their horizons across different industries. With the rise of technology and innovation in the new economy, it is particularly important to upskill them for future professional growth. As a firm, we will continue to support Hong Kong youth's career development and prospects in the GBA and beyond," concludes Edward Au, Deloitte China Southern Region managing partner.
