Derek is a Deloitte partner with 30 years’ experience and leads the Trinidad and Tobago Risk Advisory Practice. His experience includes review of financial, operations, and information systems and processes; risk management; and the auditing of critical business practices. Additionally, he leads other services including Executive placements, assessments of AML and FACTA compliance as well as policy development and implementation for companies.

He has led numerous audit engagements as the Engagement Partner with local and multinational companies in various industries. He is a Chartered Management Accountant, possessing strong project management skills. He has extensive experience in working closely with audit committees, boards of directors, and executive management. He is also experienced in establishing strong partnerships with senior management to assess companies’ processes for identifying and managing business risk and delivering organizational efficiencies in a well-controlled operating environment. 

He is a practicing member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad & Tobago and the Chartered Global Management Accountant. Derek is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (“CIMA”)-UK.

Derek previously served on the 2013 Deloitte Global Advisory Counsel. Additionally, Derek has served as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago during the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 terms.

He also devotes his time to Animals 360 Foundation, a not-for-profit that promotes, coordinates and executes activities which support healthy happy lifestyles of animals.
